Dates
- 1/2 tbsp butter
- 4-5 sage leaves
- Juice of half an orange
- 5-6 dates, pitted and halved
- A pinch of salt
Whipped Ricotta and Mascarpone
- 1.5 tbsp ricotta
- 1.5 tbsp mascarpone
- A pinch of salt
And a slice of bread!
Method
- Start out by toasting your slice of bread, set aside to cool.
- To make the hot dates, add the butter to a pan and cook it for a couple of minutes until it starts browning slightly. Now add the sage leaves and let the butter brown more and cook the sage leaves until crispy and golden.
- Squeeze in the orange juice and add Zab’s original hot sauce and mix. Let the sauce thicken for a minute. You might want to cook the sauce for a tad longer, depending on how much orange juice you used.
- Add the dates and let them cook for a couple of minutes or until soft and warm. Set the dates aside to cool a little. It’s important that the dates get time to cool off, so they don’t melt the whipped ricotta and mascarpone.
- To make the whipped ricotta and mascarpone, combine ricotta, mascarpone and salt and whisk using a mixer for 1-2 minutes or until light and fluffy. You can also make this with a regular whisk.
- Lather the ricotta and mascarpone on your bread, add the dates and enjoy.
